This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information.

Halo was born on November 15, 2001, and it is hard to believe the series, along with the first Xbox console, celebrated its fifteen year anniversary this past Wednesday.

After reeling in millions of fans and even more millions of dollars over the years, from all around the world, the series is still going strong and has earned the title as one of the most successful franchises in video game history. If fifteen years wasn’t enough already, in a new tribute video released by Halo’s developer, 343 Industries, the series’ famed protagonist, Master Chief, declares that “we’re just getting started”.

Halo
Halo celebrates 15 years.

In a heartfelt tribute to the long-running franchise, the team of 343 Industries shared many of their favorite memories from the series over the years. Whether it was John and Cortana’s last moments together in Halo 4, giving major recognition to the game changer that was Combat Evolved, or simply being gracious to the large fanbase of players who care so deeply about the games, it is clear that Halo has left (and will continue to leave) a lasting impact on those who play it and those who have helped bring the games to life.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a birthday party without the presents, as the longevity of the franchise would not be possible without the unrelenting support of the fans. Therefore, as a special token of thanks and appreciation for fifteen years of support, players can log into Halo 5 anytime between now and November 22, 2016 to claim their anniversary REQ Pack, which includes:

  • Mark IV Armor and Helmet
  • 4 SPNKRs
  • 4 CE Magnums
  • 4 Halo 2 Beam Rifles
Halo
Halo Sale is going until November 30, 2016.

Also, you may want to get your wallets ready for a jumpstart on the holiday sales, either for yourself or for the fan in your life. The Halo Gear Store’s 15th Anniversary Sale is going from now until November 30, and all purchases are 15% with free shipping.

If fans were concerned that series was slowing down at all, or perhaps thinking it isn’t the huge franchise it used to be, the celebration video is here to prove you wrong. 343 and Microsoft have made it clear the best is yet to come, and that this long-running series still has a bright future. Happy birthday, Halo!
