President Donald Trump deleted an AI-generated image from his Truth Social account that depicted him in a Christ-like pose, telling reporters at the White House Washington DC on Monday that he believed the image showed him as a Red Cross doctor. The clip, shared on Reddit, quickly gained traction online as users reacted to both the image and the explanation.
The post, which appeared on Sunday night, showed Trump in a white robe and red sash, with a ball of light emanating from one hand while the other rested on a bedridden man. Eagles, an American flag, the Statue of Liberty, and military figures appeared in the background.
Speaking to reporters outside the Oval Office in Washington DC, Trump said: “I did post it, and I thought it was me as a doctor. And it had to do with Red Cross. There’s a Red Cross worker there, which we support. And only the fake news could come up with that one.” The image was removed from his account roughly 13 hours after it was posted.
What People Are Saying Online
The video sparked reactions online. Many users found the explanation harder to accept than the image itself. “I don’t think ‘I was too dumb to know it was clearly Jesus’ is the out he thinks it is,” one commenter wrote. Another questioned the logic directly: “What kind of doctor treats patients by laying on hands while wearing robes and shining a light from their hand?” A third added: “Clearly those are official Red Cross medical robes.”
Others focused on Trump’s base. One user described the post as a loyalty test, writing: “Give them shoes that don’t fit and watch who wears them. Say crazy shit and watch who lines up.” Another noted: “He doesn’t have to. Whatever he says is what it is for 30% of the country.”
Some drew comparisons to Trump’s past. One commenter referenced his 2016 misquote of a Bible verse, writing simply:“We should ask the Two Corinthians.”
The post’s deletion has done little to slow the debate, with the explanation itself now drawing as much attention as the original image.
