It’s been almost a year since Meri Brown decided that her relationship with Kody Brown had ended. Like the other Sister Wives, however, Meri has only ever been known to the public with her married name. A recent photo shared online has fans thinking Meri is starting 2024 reclaiming her own identity separate from the plural marriage she made the difficult choice to walk away from.
A Christmas Gift Holds Clues About the Possible Name Change
Meri received a Christmas gift from her best friend, Jenn, which she shared a photo of on Instagram. The ornament, made to look like a postcard to Santa Claus, is signed by “Meri Caroline Davenport.”
While Meri’s social media accounts still have her last name listed as Brown, Sister Wives fans believe this is a sign that she’s moving away from the moniker.

Meri Brown was born Meri Barber, but sleuthing fans have figured out where her potential new surname may come from. Meri owns Lizzie’s Heritage Inn. On the inn’s website, it cites the “founding woman of this home, Sarah Ann Davenport Adams.”
The ancestral name is still a connection to her past but is also a decided way of marching forward. Many hope Meri’s name change is real, applauding the appeal of the new name and the motivation behind changing her name.
“Good for her. Fresh start. I wouldn’t want to keep the name of such a negative person. He is disgusting, and his name is that of infamy and embarrassment. A failed polygamist who lets ego and ‘fame’ make him into a monster narcissist. Crap father, awful husband, and truly miserable human,” one Redditor wrote.
Another added, “Meri Davenport is SUCH a good name!!! ‘Meri Brown’ is plain and meh.”
