Coral Crystals are a great material for upgrading your equipment in Monster Hunter World. They’re pretty easy to find as you play the game by completing quests, hunting monsters, and just finding them in different locations. Sometimes, they’re a little elusive if you don’t know where to go. Let’s take a deep dive into how and where to get Coral Crystals in MHW.

The only location where you can find Coral Crystals without issue is in the Coral Highlands. More specifically, head over to these areas and mine mining outcrops:

  • 8
  • 9
  • 11
  • 15

You also have a 12% chance to find it as a drop from a Shamos after hunting it down. You can always try your luck with a few quests, including:

  • Wiggle Me This
  • Gona in a Flash
  • Ballooning Problems
  • Legiana: Embodiment of Elegance
  • A Tzitzi for Science
  • Sorry You’re Not Invited
  • White Monster for a White Coat
  • A Humid Headache
  • Midnight Mayhem
  • It’s a Crying Shamos
  • What a Bunch of Abalone
  • Troubled Troupers

After getting your hands on some Coral Crystals, you will be able to upgrade just about any weapon you have your eye on. As for armor sets, you’re looking at Tzitzi, Butterfly, King Beetle, Shamos, Ingot, Kirin, and Alloy armor sets that can be upgraded. In our playthrough, we looked for Coral Crystals to upgrade Kirin armor sets. There’s just something about looking like a unicorn that makes our hearts sing.
