Strange Glitch Makes Phasmophobia Players Wonder If Anywhere Is Safe Anymore

How safe are you now, Ghost Hunter?

We all know that some pretty strange things happen in Phasmophobia sometimes. I mean, come on. The game is literally about hunting and investigating ghosts. Do you expect everything to just be ‘normal’ every time you start a new contract? A player on Reddit recently discovered a strange glitch in the game that gives off a strong feeling of “Holy crap, I’m not even safe in the safest places in-game.” It sure makes me question how safe the van can be, which is where I inevitably run every time I get a little too spooked by the ghost throwing random events around in the map. Have I been wrong to consider it safe?

Being a paranormal investigator, it really is your job to be as brave as you can be, but sometimes, it just isn’t enough. Ghosts can be terrifying with all their jump scares, interactions, events, and whatnot. Don’t get me wrong, it’s possible to run through a contract without getting super scared, but, there’s just something about this grotesque-looking demon of a ghost model crawling across the floor on all fours toward you. Those are always the moments where I cut my losses and hightail it out of there. Until recently, I thought the van I was strategically hiding in was a safe location. A player posted information that proved the exact opposite to be true on Reddit.

Boxtermusic posted on Reddit, capturing a strange image that most of us likely haven’t seen, along with a caption that reads, “Ghost used a crucifix in the van?!” Yeah, pretty wild, right? The van is supposed to be a safe spot to go when you need to regain a bit of precious Sanity or even get a break from the non-stop creepy events.

However, thanks to Boxtermusic’s post, something unusual was revealed about Phasmophobia. Some areas in specific maps are so close to the van that if you have a Level 3 Crucifix hanging up in the van, it will still protect you from a hunt. One such map is 42 Edgefield Road. If you get a ghost whose favorite room is the garage, there’s a good chance you’ll be safe if a Crucifix with a large enough range is sitting up on the wall in the van. Wild, isn’t it?

Jordan is an experienced fantasy writer who spends hours behind her laptop, and lost in the pages of a book. She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
