If encountering an Eyeless Dog or Coil-Head face-to-face wasn’t terrifying enough, how about experiencing them in VR? Since its immense blast-off in popularity, Lethal Company has been nothing but a sensation for co-op-horror-loving fans, and mods have only made the game better. Those with virtual reality devices can now have their pants scared off with even more immersion, thanks to the LethalCompanyVR mod by DaXcess. Even for those with little experience modding Lethal Company, such as myself, downloading and installing this mod is incredibly easy to do.

The easiest way to jump into Lethal Company in VR is with the mod manager r2modman. Here’s the link to the official download page. If you’ve dabbled with modding games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, you can think of r2modman as a similar application to the Vortex Mod Manager by Nexus Mods.

Next, extract the file using a program like WinRar, after which you can install r2modman via its quick-and-easy setup. Once you’ve launched the mod manager, search “Lethal Company” in the search bar and open a profile. Select “Online” to look for mods made by users, and type “LethalCompanyVR” into the search bar. Click on “Download with Dependencies” to automatically have the mod manager install BepInExPack, a mod required for the VR mode to work.

Finally, choose “Started modded” at the top-left of the window to play Lethal Company in VR. Once the game opens, you’ll notice some red text on the title screen telling you to restart the game. Do so, and the next time you select “Started modded” again, the game will open SteamVR and launch the game with the VR mod without any extra input.

To reiterate, you can play Lethal Company in VR via the following steps:

  1. Download and install the r2modman mod manager.
  2. Search for LethalCompanyVR mod by DaXcess in the available Online mod library for Lethal Company.
  3. Launch the game via “Started modded” twice to play LethalCompanyVR.

Since your virtual reality device may vary when playing Lethal Company in VR, providing you with every possible input with your controllers is difficult, as I tested and ran the mod through my Valve Index. I will say that there are a few things to keep in mind when controlling your character:

  • Picking up objects is done by gripping your controller; Index users must make a “thumbs-up” shape with their hand. This gesture also applies to climbing ladders.
  • Opening doors is done by staring at handles while holding your controller (not letting your fingers loosen); a wheel will spin, after which the door will open, or you’ll enter a building.
  • Running/sprinting is done by holding down your left joystick.
  • You can check your character’s status by looking at your right hand, while your left will display your current inventory.
