The Fire Nation has arrived. Netflix has released the trailer for Avatar: The Last Airbender (seen below). In the footage, we see how much has been spent to go as big as possible in taking this beloved anime series into a live-action format.
The series will follow the same story as the original animated series on Nickelodeon. Aang (Gordon Cormier) is the Avatar, a special warrior who maintains peace and masters all four elements. Aang had been frozen for so long that he was not able to complete his training or maintain peace. Now, he must embark on a journey to learn and find a solution to the threat of the Fire Nation.
The Avatar: The Last Airbender trailer also gives us a look at some other beloved characters from the series. The series stars Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Zuko, Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as General Iroh, Casey Camp-Horinek as Gran Gran, Arden Cho as June, Maria Zhang as Suki, Sebastien Amoruso as Jet, Utkarsh Ambudkar as King Bumi, and Danny Pudi as The Mechanist.
The Trailer for Avatar: The Last Airbender Delivers a Massive Scope
Albert Kim serves as a writer, executive producer, and showrunner. The episodes are directed by Michael Goi, Roseanne Liang, Jabbar Raisani, and Jet Wilkinson. Goi and Raisani executive produce with Dan Lin and Lindsey Liberatore.
It has been a troubling road to get to make Avatar: The Last Airbender, let alone complete it and show us what was made with the first trailer. The original creators, Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino, were attached but left the project. They are at Paramount heading Avatar Studios to make new projects in the universe, including an animated film.
Avatar: The Last Airbender will enter its war against the Fire Nation on February 22.
