An exchange between Kanye West and a fan has sparked controversy online. The altercation began after the fan, Tyg Savage, urged the rapper to go back to his old self. Displeased, the Yeezy mogul slid into the fan’s DM and gave him a piece of his mind. Savage didn’t back down either, responding to each of Ye’s messages, albeit in a respectful manner. Later on, he shared screenshots of the conversation, which stirred a heated debate. On one side, some fans rallied behind the rapper to show support. But on the other side, fans noted that Savage was right about Kanye West’s old self being better.
Kanye West and a Fan Engage in Heated Exchange
A discussion about Kanye West’s old self and his current status is ongoing on social media. The topic stemmed from a recent altercation between Kanye West and a fan on Instagram. On Tuesday, the 46-year-old took to the app with a video of his wife, Bianca Censori. The clip showed the 29-year-old looking sultry in a white tank top, black bum shorts, and black heels. The video sparked reactions from fans, including Savage, who asked Ye to “go back to Jesus.” The comment seemingly struck a nerve as the singer rushed into the fan’s DM to fire back.
In a screenshot of the exchange posted on Savage’s Instagram story, Ye wrote:
“N***a, you can’t tell me what to do on my page. Unfollow if you don’t like it.”
The fan responded, expressing love for Ye and asking him to return to his old self.
“Love your music and the old you. It has inspired me my friends and many other people out there in this world. Pls don’t change because people want to. Be the old Ye I used to love. Thanks,” he replied.
Again, the rap icon replied, this time telling Savage he sounded insane. Ye then asked the fan to go listen to his old music if that was what he wanted.
“F*** you and every single person trying to tell me who I need to be, what I need to post, what I need to focus on, who I can vote on, what type of music I should make, what kind of clothes I should wear,” Ye finished.
Fans Take Kanye West’s Side
The conversation quickly went viral, and fans trooped to Reddit to support Ye’s response to the fan.
“Nah I’m with Ye, U just seem like an annoying fan,” one person wrote.
Another Redditor commented:
“Asking someone to be a diff version of themselves is really weird..even more so when you don’t even know them.”
A third fan also shared:
“Ye pretty right for this. This person texting him is proly j as annoying as paparazzi for Kanye.”
Another supportive Redditor shared:
“Telling him to not change because people tell him to and then saying to just be the old you is crazy.”
A fifth fan argued that Savage wasn’t really a supporter. According to them, a true fan would never bring up their favorite kids. Others explained that something probably triggered Ye, as he would ordinarily not respond to such a comment.
