In Palworld, an easy and reliable way to obtain higher-tier Pals is through the game’s in-depth breeding system. There’s an extensive amount of Pals you can unlock just through breeding, but in this game, it isn’t as easy as putting two Pals together in a daycare center. After building a Breeding Farm, you must supply your two Pals with the world’s greatest aphrodisiac: cake. Yup, in Palworld, your Pals will need cake to breed.

Cake is not an item you can find easily in the open world of Palworld. Instead, cake is a recipe that you can make. After making some cakes, you’ll need to take the cakes and bring them to the Breeding Farm for them to be used by your Pals. Here is the recipe for cake in Palworld:

  • x5 Flour
  • x8 Red Berries
  • x7 Milk
  • x8 Egg
  • x2 Honey

The best way to farm these ingredients is to create an automatic system inside your base. Red Berries can easily be farmed, while Milk, Egg, and Honey can be automatically generated through a Ranch. Flour can be created by feeding wheat through a Mill. You can get large amounts of Wheat through a Wheat farm.

Some Pals that generate these items are Mozzarina, Chikipi, and Elizabee. Try catching these Pals and adding them to your Ranch to create a steady output of the required items.

Important note: You cannot start baking cakes until you unlock the Cooking Pot. The Cooking Pot unlocks at Level 17, which is somewhat early. If you want to unlock breeding early, be sure to spend some time grinding levels fast.

Like any other food in Palworld, cake can be used to feed your Pals and fend off hunger. However, we highly recommend saving cakes for when you start breeding your Pals together, instead. When you get enough cakes, take them to a Breeding Farm. There will be a chest in front of the Breeding Farm where you can put your cakes. From here, Pals will automatically use these cakes while in the Breeding Farm.

Pals cannot breed without cakes. The Breeding Farm unlocks at Level 19, so until then, we recommend creating a stockpile of cakes so you can breed Pals together efficiently. When your Pals breed together, they will create some Eggs that you can hatch in an incubator. Be sure to create plenty of cakes in Palworld if you want to create some interesting Pals.
