This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

If you’re exploring certain routes in Pacific Drive, you might’ve noticed that to enter dangerous zones, you need to increase your radiation resistance. While at first, your car provides you enough protection, the further you delve into the Zone, the harder the conditions will get, and you’ll need more things to keep you safe. Besides, some buildings inside certain routes contain rare loot but can be plagued with radiation. So, before you grow a new limb or die while exploring, you should outfit yourself and your car against this hazardous environment.

To increase radiation resistance in Pacific Drive, you’ll need to do a lot of exploring and gathering before you can unlock the necessary upgrades. Also, it is important to note that these upgrades will take a while to unlock, and you won’t get the necessary materials for a while, but it pays to be patient.

Increasing Body Radiation Resistance

By now, you should know that when you’re on foot, radiation will affect you and slowly drain your health. To prevent that, there are a few items you can craft to mitigate this. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Head to the Outfitting Station.
  2. Scrolls through the tabs until you get to Radiation equipment.
  3. From there, you can craft any of the pieces, with the Lead Apron being the cheapest one.
    • You’ll need lead platelets, which can take a while to appear in the game.

Increasing Your Car’s Resistance

During the early routes, you’ll hardly ever get radiation damage inside your car. Usually, steel doors and panels protect the car enough to keep this harmful effect outside. However, in the situation where you stay inside the storm for a while or lose some car parts, you’ll need certain equipment to make the vehicle more resistant. Here’s what you should do:

  1. Head to the Fabrication Station.
  2. Find the Car Body tab.
  3. Unlock the Lead-Plated Panel upgrade by spending two pieces of Fabric.

This will allow you to craft your new protective panels in the workbench, but, like the body protection, you’ll need to venture further into the zone to find the right materials.

If possible, we recommend prioritizing this upgrade before any of the insulated panels or armored ones. Radiation is extremely dangerous and will eat your health up if you aren’t protected enough. Yes, it’ll take a while to get the materials, but once you have them, outfit yourself and your car for the daunting journey ahead.
