Does Madame Web Have a Post-Credits Scene?

You won’t need divination for this one.

The latest entry of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is landing in theaters, with the release of Madame Web. It stars Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) as the clairvoyant Spider-Man side character Cassandra Webb. After gaining her abilities, she realizes she is connected to three teenage girls who are being hunted by a man named Ezekiel Sims (Tahar Rahim). Cassie reluctantly tries to protect the girls, which leads her to uncover a connection between Ezekiel and her deceased mother. As it is a Marvel movie, you might be wondering if Madame Web has a post-credits scene leading to a larger franchise, so let’s take a look.

If you are waiting patiently for the film to end, you can leave the theater, as Madame Web does not have a post-credits scene. There are no extra scenes or bloopers once the credits begin to roll. So, if you need to run off to the bathroom after sitting in the theater for two hours, you can do so without fear as you won’t miss anything. Well, you’d miss The Cranberries’ “Dreams” playing over the credits, but you won’t miss anything connected to Madame Web.

Madame Web is surprisingly reasonably self-contained, so there didn’t need to be a post-credits scene connecting it to the other movies in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. There aren’t any apparent references to Venom, Morbius, or any other Spider-Man movies throughout the entire film. There are other references to Spider-Man characters, like how Adam Scott (Severance) plays Ben Parker, but there aren’t direct references to any other movies. The film’s director, S. J. Clarkson, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about not including a post-credits scene, saying, “I felt that we’d said everything we needed to say in the film.”

While it is currently being poorly received, with a 17% on Rotten Tomatoes as of writing, we could get a sequel if Madame Web does well enough at the box office. If Sony does a sequel or spin-off we could get to see more of Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria), Celeste O’Connor (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), and Isabela Merced’s (Dora and the Lost City of Gold) characters. But, it’s looking like this might be the last we see of Cassandra Webb and the rest of the Spider-People for a while. You can catch Madame Web in theaters now.
