Family of Woman Killed in Mass Shooting Receive a Generous Donation From an Unexpected Source

The family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, 44, who was shot and killed at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl victory parade, received a sizable donation from a surprising source. After gunfire broke out near Union Station, police have since confirmed at least 22 victims, including at least nine children. Lopez-Galvan’s family set up a GoFundMe to provide financial support during these grieving times, the biggest donation to which came from Taylor Swift.

An Unexpected Donation

The singer donated $100,000 along with a personal message: “Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift.”

Swift’s generous donation tipped the fundraiser well over its $75,000 goal. In fact, the GoFundMe page is a mere few thousands away from $200,000. Swift made two separate donations of $50,000, which The Irish Independent confirms were legitimized by GoFundMe as coming directly from Swift.

On the GoFundMe page, the family wrote:

“This fund has been set up to benefit the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan. Lisa was celebrating the Chiefs Super Bowl Victory parade when senselessly killed. She is survived by two children and her husband of 22 years. She was an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many. We ask that you continue to keep her family in your prayers as we grieve the loss of her life. This fund will help provide vital financial support to her family as they process this unthinkable tragedy.”

Lisa Lopez-Galvan was a host of her local radio station KKFI “Taste of Tejano” and a mother of two. She is the only confirmed victim to have died from her injuries.

An Ongoing Investigation

Lopez-Galvan reportedly died at a local hospital during surgery after suffering a gunshot wound to her abdomen, The U.S. Sun states.

Although three people have been detained in relation to the incident, police have yet to confirm a motive or announce any official culprits. There are reports that authorities were looking into a suspicious tweet on Wednesday that could have some correlation with the “senseless” attack.

Several attendees to the Kansas City Chiefs parade were seen tackling someone they believed to be a suspect.

The NFL team released a statement regarding the shooting.

“We are truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station at the conclusion of today’s parade and rally,” the team said.

“Our hearts go out to the victims and their families, and all of Kansas City…”

“At this time, we have confirmed that all of our players, coaches, staff, and their families are safe and accounted for.”

“We thank the local law enforcement officers and first responders who were on-scene to assist.”

Police are still stumped as to the motive behind the attack, although it is believed that the shooting was not intentional. The incident was alleged to be the escalation of a personal dispute, not the actions of premeditated genocide.
