Earlier this week, it was announced that vampires would be coming to The Sims 4 on January 24th as paid DLC. Today, it was announced that toddlers are now in The Sims 4 as well. Even better, they are part of a free update that you can download and play right now.

In a post on the official The Sims 4 website, executive producer Lindsay Pearson details the goals of the update:
“The Sims 4 base game has always provided a foundation upon which we’ve consistently grown and expanded, and we hope that Toddlers will help to capture those moments of growth and nurturing we’ve seen you share over the years – in addition to highlighting the special bonds between parents and toddlers as they grow. We’ve added over a hundred new animations, dozens of new interactions, and great new suites of outfits and objects. But most importantly, we’ve bridged a really meaningful part of your Sims’ lives.”
Players will be able to interact with their toddlers in many ways: helping them learn through flash cards, encouraging them to dance and play, and even teaching them how to use the bathroom. Players can also forge bonds with their toddlers by carrying them around the house and reading them bedtime stories.
The team has been seeking to add toddlers to The Sims for years, and they finally found “the right time, resources and design” to bring them to life. No word yet if you’ll be able to create an army of terrifying toddler vampires, like Claudia from Interview with the Vampire.
The toddler update is available to download right now and it is a free update. The vampire DLC will release at the end of January.
