A biker must choose between his two loves. After being dropped by Disney and 20th Century Studios, Focus Features has revived the marketing campaign for the Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, and Jodie Comer movie The Bikeriders with a new trailer (seen below). The 1960s-set film was written and directed by Jeff Nichols, with the story based on the Danny Lyon book of the same name.
The film follows a torn relationship between Kathy (Comer) and her reckless biker husband, Benny (Butler). Over the course of a decade, we will see the evolution of this gang’s criminal history. It tears a hole between Benny, Kathy, and his gang, led by Johnny (Hardy). Others featured in the film include Michael Shannon, Boyd Holbrook, and Norman Reedus.
Focus Features Saves The Bikeriders and Serves Up New Trailer
Things did not look good a few months ago for Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer, and the rest of the cast and crew when Disney and 20th Century dropped The Bikeriders. In October 2023, Regency removed it from its release calendar, leading to the rest of the studios to blackout. Focus came in for the rescue, giving the film a summer release.
The pic made its debut at the Telluride Film Festival. It won people over, most importantly, critics. It currently holds an 86% on Rotten Tomatoes. Much of the praise came for the stellar cast, who elevated the story that did not click with everyone.
The Bikeriders will further strengthen one of the best years of Austin Butler. This week, Dune: Part Two was released, giving him a villainous role in one of the year’s biggest epic blockbusters. His Apple TV series Masters of Air has dominated the streaming service for weeks. Now, he will have more tarmac to ride on when his biker movie zooms through the summer.
The Bikeriders will be released on June 21.
