With the major success of The Force Awakens andย Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, fans of the series have been dying for any kind of news about the next installment of the series.ย After months of rumors, the next installment of the Skywalker saga hasย finally received an official title, and it’s a little worrisome. Lucasfilm announced early Monday morning that the next film in the series will be titled:ย Star Wars: The Last Jedi.ย
As expected with all big releases, the rumor millย pumped out quite a few potential names for the new film. Disney even got accused of accidentally revealing the new title about a month ago after filing a trademark forย Star Wars: Forces of Destinyย amongst other titles. Obviously, none of these “leaked” titles were the chosen one.
Does something look odd about the new logo? How about the bright red outline for the title? This is the first time, on an official poster, that the wordsย Star Warsย haven’t been in its traditional colors. What this little change could mean forย The Last Jedi is up for speculation.
This film will takeย place right after the events ofย The Force Awakens which end with Rey finding the isolated Luke Skywalker. According to the director, Rian Johnson, this is Luke’s story. Viewers will finally get to see what Luke has been up to since he disappeared. While the title is a little worrisome, one must remember that Jedi could be singular or plural. However, with the brutal blow of Han Solo’s death inย The Force Awakens, I wouldn’t put anything past the filmmakers. So, we could either look at is Luke Skywalker’s final appearance, Rey and Luke, together, make up the final members of the Jedi, or, I seriously doubt this, but maybe Rey doesn’t make it to the end? With no trailer released, everything is good, old speculation at this point.
Following its previous release pattern,ย Star Wars: The Last Jediย is set to release on December 15th, 2017.
