From choosing your first pet to taking down gym leaders, there’s a lot of ground to cover in Tales Of Tanorio. This Pokemon-inspired Roblox game features a huge roster of charming pets to catch. Even though there’s no PvP yet, there’s plenty of depth when it comes to battling these creatures and leveling them up. Between wild encounters, gym battles, and tough bosses, you’ll have your hands full. Whether you’re learning about catch rates or playing Rock Paper Scissors with elemental interactions, a little advice goes a long way. Here are some of our top tips and tricks for beginners in Tales Of Tanorio.

5. Fast Travel

Tanorio features a sprawling map, and traveling it is a big part of gameplay. Where you are determines which Tanorians you can find in the wild. If you’re looking for a specific Tanorian or Shiny hunting, you’ll need a way to travel fast. There are a few tips to save time in Tales Of Tanorio, and one of the biggest is to go to “Traveling” in the main menu. Doing so pulls up a map of all Fast Travel points you’ve unlocked so far, letting you get straight to the good stuff.

4. Creature Types

There are 20 Tanorian types, and each has complicated interactions with all of the others. That’s impressive considering even Palworld only has nine types. Knowing your Tanorian’s elemental makeup is the first step to knowing when it will be strong or weak. Try to create a balanced team and adjust as necessary. You can take down tough opponents like Gym Leaders, for example, by building teams around their weaknesses. Concentrating too much on just one or two types is a risk you should avoid when possible.

3. Swapping Moves

Each Tanorian has four slots in which to equip moves. Since there are far more moves than there are slots, you’ll need to choose which moves to equip to which Tanorian. There’s a major element of strategy here since different moves have different costs and effects. Moves also have elements corresponding to the 20 Tanorian types. Having different moves matters as much as having a good balance of Tanorians, making balancing moves one of our top Tales Of Tanorio tips.

2. Stat Buffs and Debuffs

Teams in Palworld, Pokemon, and Tales Of Tanorio are about more than just numbers. Each of your pets has key stats to keep an eye on. These stats are randomized upon receiving your Tanorio, so you need to keep an eye on any buffs and debuffs that set one Tanorio apart from another. Buffed stats are written in green, while debuffed stats are written in red. As you catch more Tanorio, pay attention to stats to get the most value out of them in battle.

1. Getting a Shiny Starter

Legendary Tanorio like Flowither aren’t the only desirable catches in the game. Rare Shiny variants are also coveted. It’s even possible to get a Shiny variant of the starter Tanorio, but the odds aren’t in your favor. The odds of getting a Shiny are 1:2000, so even with three starters available, the odds of one of them being a Shiny are only 1:667 or so. You can restart repeatedly to try to get one, but it will probably take a while, so be patient.

Roblox is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Android, and iOS.
