The new map for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 is not fun, and for good reason. Back in Season 1, you always had plenty of PvP encounters, regardless of where you landed, but that’s not the case in this new season. We’ll talk about the reasons for this and explain why the Chapter 5 Season 2 map is a failure.
Epic Games Messed Up Chapter 5 Season 2 Map in Fortnite
One of the biggest reasons the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 map is a mess is the distance between POIs. In particular, The Underworld, Grim Gate, Pleasant Piazza, Restored Reels, and Fencing Fields are too close together. Hades and Cerberus are also in the Underworld and Grim Gate locations, which means two Aspects of Gods.
Naturally, most players in a match will aim to land in these areas. The same goes for Mount Olympus and Brawler’s Battleground. Players can only choose to land in The Underworld, Grim Gate, Restored Reels, Mount Olympus, or Brawler’s Battleground. This is because the other parts of the map aren’t worth checking out.
There are currently four different bosses (four Medallions), and their locations are overly close to each other, causing imbalance. In comparison, the bosses of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 were evenly distributed across the map. The balanced layout had players move from the outer sides of the map toward the center. Now, all matches are excessively focused at the center of the map.
As a result, Chapter 5 Season 2 feels dull, especially for casual players. Let’s be honest; it’s tough for casuals to land in hot spots like The Underworld or Grim Gate and survive because it’s so crowded. But landing in a place like Lavish Lair, Snooty Steppes, or Classy Courts, they won’t find any enemies to compete with.
In its current state, the map is only “fun” for sweaty hardcore players. Personally, I don’t want to deal with half the lobby just to stay alive. Epic Games might be using things like Oracle’s Snapshot Story Quests to get players to land in different places. Still, such a solution is temporary and doesn’t resolve the season’s imbalance problem.
Well, that’s the state of the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 map. On the bright side, it could be useful for players who don’t like to engage in PvP from the get-go. You can drop down to places like Snooty Steppes, Grand Glacier, and Lavish Lair, which are no longer in their glory days, to have an entire location’s worth of loot for yourself.
