Does Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire Have a Post-Credits Scene?

Be careful not to freeze in the theater.

Ready those proton packs, because the newest entry in the Ghostbusters franchise is here. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is the direct sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife and is directed by Gil Kenan (Monster House). It stars Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and Mckenna Grace as well as Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts. Frozen Empire sees the Ghostbusters tackle a new (old) evil spirit, one that causes the apocalyptic Death Chill. You might be wondering if the movie has anything after the credits, especially with Ghostbusters expanding as a larger franchise. So, let’s see if Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire has a post-credits scene.

Is There a Post-Credits Scene in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire?

If you need to rush off after the movie, you should wait around for a minute because Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire does have a post-credits scene. The scene itself takes place right after the first round of cast credits before moving on to the main credits. So, if you need to move your car or you’re feeling the urge to go to the bathroom after watching New York freeze, just try your best to hold it in for a minute or two.

Although, you don’t necessarily need to stick around as the post-credits scene isn’t really substantial to the plot and it doesn’t set up a future sequel. We won’t spoil it here, but the scene is just a funny epilogue with some of the ghosts. None of the Ghostbusters – main members or otherwise – are in the scene, as it’s just included for a laugh. There is nothing else that you might want to see after that unless you want to watch the names of all the people who worked on the movie.

It’s worth noting – even though this isn’t a post-credits scene – that there’s a dedication right when the movie ends. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is dedicated to Ivan Reitman, the director of the first film in the franchise. Reitman passed away in 2022, so this is the first Ghostbusters movie that has been released after his death. Of course, his son Jason Reitman directed Ghostbusters: Afterlife and he co-wrote both Afterlife and Frozen Empire. The dedication “For Ivan” pops up before the credits do, so you shouldn’t miss it either way. You can get spooked yourself and see Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire in theaters from March 22, 2024.
