The View hosts voice their unreserved opinions about Kate Middleton‘s health and cancer diagnosis and the involvement of the royals in the unpleasant turn of events. After months of speculations and wild theories, the Princess of Wales finally came clean about her health status in an emotional video shared on Friday. However, before that, several celebrities and TV shows had weighed in on the subject, even making jokes centered around some of the prevailing theories about Kate’s whereabouts. With the cancer revelation though, most of these stars are eating their words, including the hosts of The View.
The View Hosts Express Remorse Over Kate Middleton’s Health Commentary
During an episode of The View which aired on Monday, March 25, 2024, the hosts addressed Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis and the ensuing drama. Co-host Whoopi Goldberg, who has previously refrained from indulging the various conspiracy theories and memes about Kate asked the other women what they thought of the latest development. In response, Alyssa Farrah Griffin voiced,
“I feel awful. Whoopi was right and I’m guilty of getting into the fun of ‘Where’s Kate?’ and thinking it’s funny, and sharing the memes and playing into that.”
Going further, Alyssa admitted that while she, like most of the world got carried away by the craze of Kate’s absence, she forgot “something fundamental.” According to her, everyone had some sort of personal struggles they were dealing with, and the royals were no exception. Having realized her insensitive oversight, The View co-host sent out love and strength to Kate Middleton.
The 34-year-old also admitted she never imagined the Princess of Wales was dealing with something that serious. Regardless, she believed the palace had a part to play in how things turned out, especially with the out-of-control conspiracy theories. She divulged,
“Sure, the palace totally mishandled the PR of it, but the public mishandled it.”
Kate’s Health Drama Follows a Long Line of Royal Women
Sara Haines shared the same sentiments as her The View co-host Alyssa over Kate Middleton’s health saga. She expressed grievances about the way the royal family handles women, citing the case of Meghan Markle and the late Princess Diana. She added,
“I was not blaming Kate for what was going on. It really bothered me the way it was handled — whether it was my business or not could be debated. But I do hope now for a speedy recovery.”
On her part, Ana Navarro joked about listening to Whoopi Goldberg next time she tells her to “mind my own damn business.” She also described the whole conspiracy theory, further heightened by the altered Mother’s Day photo, as a rabbit hole she regretted falling into. Despite her remorse, Ana believed the wild theories came from a place of love and respect.
According to The View host, Kate is a valued, well-loved, treasured and respected figure. Hence, the thought that something might be secretly wrong was cause for alarm especially when looking back at the the mostly “dysfunctional royal family” history.
