Idle RPGs have become a favorite of mine lately. Something about being able to put my phone aside to do other things while the game runs in the background is incredibly appealing. AFK Journey makes the experience all the better with its unique heroes. After grinding AFK Stages and assessing pulls—spending tons of Diamonds along the way—I’ve come to realize which heroes are worth keeping in your party and leveling up via an AFK Journey tier list.
AFK Journey Tier List
I separated each hero by rank according to their overall performance when battling. I had to add an extra SS-Tier for those that I think are extra special (and am maybe biased about). To break down this AFK Journey tier list more specifically:
- SS-Tier: Heroes that are both incredibly rare and have overwhelming overall power. If you pull one of these at the Noble Tavern, assign them to your parties when you battles. You won’t regret it.
- S-Tier: Hard-to-get heroes that I would rank as the most powerful among the rest, but just bellow SS-Tier Heroes. Assuming you’re pulling ten heroes at a time, there’s a two in three chance to recruit one of these.
- A-Tier: Also assuming you’re pulling ten heroes at a time, you’ll earn an A-Tier hero during every recruitment. They’re strong, reliable, and should always have a place on your team if you’ve got them.
- B-Tier: B-Tier heroes are reliable, and easy to obtain. You’ll run into these pretty often as you recruit new heroes. That makes them easy to Ascend, making them good additions to your party if you don’t have SS or S-Tier heroes.
- C-Tier: I wouldn’t recommend having C-Tier heroes in your party. But, I have to admit that they’re easy to Ascend since you’ll recruit them pretty often.
- D-Tier: These heroes are the worst of the worst; there, I said it.
SS-Tier
The SS-Tier consists of heroes:
- Thoran
- Cecia
- Reinier
- Rowan
- Eddie
- Viperian
- Vala
Viperian is the best of them all. His Ultimate, the Spiritual Viper, uses up his HP to send Darkvipers to possess enemies and deal a ton of damage. I’m also incredibly fond of Rowan’s Ultimate, Fatal Greed. While using it, he stands back and provides the team with Energy.
S-Tier
In S-Tier, there are a signficant amount of heroes including:
- Hewynn
- Granny Dahnie
- Smokey and Meerky
- Silvina
- Shakir
- Scarlita
- Lyca
- Igor
- Dionel
- Eironn
- Korin
- Carolina
There are a lot of great S-Tier heroes. I only recently obtained Carolina, and have been making use of her Frozen Grave ability. She also has an incredibly effective Supreme abiulity that allowed her inflict Frostbite damage on enemies. In fact, almost all of the heroes in this tier have awesome Supreme abilities.
A-Tier
In the A-Tier, we have:
- Antandra
- Valen
- Temesia
- Seth
- Rhys
- Niru
- Berial
- Cassadee
- Brutus
- Arden
- Damian
- Merrin
The heroes in the A-Tier have very powerful Legendary and Mythic abilities. They’re also reliable in a pinch since you’ll recruit doubles of these heroes most of the time. Being able to Ascend the will happen often and since all the heroes share the same level as the hero they’re replacing in the party, switching them in every once in a while would be a good idea.
B-Tier
When it comes to the B-Tier, there’s:
- Kafra
- Mirael
- Lucius
I obtained all three of these heroes in the first few hours after first starting the game. Like the heroes in the A-Tier, the ones in the B-Tier are also easy to Ascend since you’ll end up recruiting a lot of doubles. I personally have Mirael as one of my usual suspects, and use her Winged Flame Ultimate ability.
C-Tier
In the C-Tier, you can expect:
- Salazer
- Satrana
- Fay
- Kruger
- Parisa
I’m not a big fan of any of the heroes featured in the C-Tier. None of the C-Tier heroes that I have in my Resonance reservoir ever make to my party. Neither their Ultimate, Legendary, or Mythic abilities are up to snuff in a manner that makes it worth adding to your team.
D-Tier
The lowest tier, the D-Tier, consists of:
- Hammie
- Chippy
- Atalanta
- Lumont
- Bryon
- Joey
- Guywin
Hammie and Chippy were among the first two heroes from the D-Tier that I received. Since then, I knew what sort of hero to stay away from. The ones featured in this tier are, for lack of a better word, useless.
Best AFK Journey Teams
In my opinion, the best teams you could use in AFK Journey are the most balanced ones. Considering that, my top picks include:
- Viperian, Seth, Mirael, Cecia, and Lucius.
- Seth, Antandra, Smokey and Meerky, Igor, and Parisa
- Carolina, Rowan, Cecia, Vala, and Lucius.
AFK Journey is available to play on mobile devices and on PC.
