Jennifer Garner had made no secret that she’s all about her family. Whether it’s her three children –Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel– whom she shares with her ex-husband Ben Affleck, or other loved ones. Sadly, the 13 Going On 30 star recently shared some devastating news with her fans. Garner tragically announced the passing of her beloved father, William John Garner, who died at the age of 85 over Easter weekend.
A few days after William’s death, Jennifer shared a heartbreaking and loving tribute to her late father via social media. The actress told fans that her father passed away “peacefully” on Saturday. She also revealed that he was surrounded by family at the time of his passing.
“We were with him, singing Amazing Grace as he left us (did we carry him across or scare him away— valid question.) While there is no tragedy in the death of an 85 year old man who lived a healthy, wonderful life, I know grief is unavoidable, waiting around unexpected corners,” she said in the caption of an Instagram slideshow tribute to her dad.
In addition, Jennifer Garner went on to share more kind words about her father and the strong impact that he had on her life. “We are grateful for Dad’s gentle demeanor and quiet strength. For how he teased with a mischievous smile, and for the way he invented the role of all in, ever patient girl dad. We are grateful for his work ethic, leadership and faith,” she said.
Meanwhile, Garner has a support system to lean on amid her grief, including ex Ben Affleck. The duo are said to be getting along better than ever as of late. Sources tell OK! Magazine that the pair have worked through their issues and healed old wounds. However, as the father of her own children, it’s like that the actress realizes the importance of maintaining a good relationship with Affleck for their kids.
