ASTRA: Knights of Veda: Your First Hours in Planis
ASTRA: Knights of Veda is a 2D Action RPG game where you can control a team of heroes to clear various dungeons. So, the first thing you must understand is how combat works.
Combat
The combat in ASTRA: Knights of Veda is rather simple. Besides performing normal attacks, each hero has their own unique skill and ultimate. There is a cooldown time after you perform a skill, but you must gather energy by dealing damage to fill your ultimate gauge.
While you can deal with mobs by beating them to death, fighting bosses is a bit more tricky. They can usually kill your unit with a few hits, so you must learn to dodge their attacks. If you are playing on a PC, you can evade by right-clicking your mouse.
Auto-Battle
At first, you must control your units during a fight, but as you progress through the tutorial, you will unlock the Auto-Battle feature. I recommend activating this feature since it makes fighting much easier. While the art style of ASTRA: Knights of Veda is very pretty, it does make combat rather challenging. When the Auto-Battle is active, the AI will control your active unit and target any nearby enemy.
While it can activate all skills and ultimates, you must manually change your unit. During each stage, you can bring a team of four heroes, but only one can be active on the field. Each unit has its own class and element, and you can change the active character anytime during a battle.
Besides changing characters, you must also manually dodge the oncoming attacks. The AI is a bit dumb and will attack all enemies head-on without any strategy. Once your unit is out of danger, you can stop giving manual inputs, and the AI will resume controlling your characters.
Character Classes & Elements
ASTRA: Knights of Veda features four classes that you can add to your team:
- Tank – Their main role is to take damage for your team, but they can also deal decent damage.
- DPS – They can deal a ton of damage to enemies, but they have low health compared to other classes.
- Support – These characters can be considered sub-DPS. They usually can call a summon to help them in battle.
- Healer – These units have abilities to heal your team without consuming food.
The best tip I can give you is to bring at least one Tank, Healer, and DPS on your ASTRA: Knights of Veda team. The Support unit is optional; you can substitute it with another DPS or Tank.

The 10 Best Mobile Games of 2022Element is another important mechanic since each enemy has certain elemental weaknesses. Be warned that you cannot hit one monster with a single element for too long, or they will develop resistance. Another great tip to follow in ASTRA: Knights of Veda is to have characters with different elements on your team to avoid this issue.
Here are all the elements you can find in the game:
- Fire
- Poison
- Earth
- Electric
- Water
- Blood
- Darkness
- Light
Summoning
ASTRA: Knights of Veda is a Gacha game, so you can get new units by pulling on the banners in the Call of the Stars. Like in Genshin Impact, you can encounter two types of banners: limited-time and standard. For new players, you can also gain access to a beginner banner that guarantees you get one 5-star unit after 50 pulls.
- Start the Call of the Stars – Beginner banner
- Knight’s First Leap – Obtain one 4-star Healer
- Limited-time character banner – Summon a rare 5-star unit
- Veda’s Gear – Get a limited-time 5-star gear
- Fallen Wings of Veda – Standard banner
I recommend pulling on the Knight’s First Leap banner since you’re guaranteed to get a 4-star Healer, Lucian. He will complete your starter team and fulfill the missing Healer role.
Leveling Up, Gear Enhancement, & Relics
Unlike the protagonist, your heroes will not level up by fighting enemies; You must give them EXP Books to increase their levels. Every time you clear a stage, you can get these valuable resources. I suggest replaying the hardest stage you’ve cleared to get the best drops.
Besides leveling up your units, you can also make them stronger by enhancing their gear. Like EXP Books, you can get equipment enhancement materials from the stages on the world map.
Lastly, you want to equip all of your characters with Relics. Each unit can wear five pieces of Relics, and you can obtain them by beating Veda’s Nightmare. This special dungeon will be unlocked once you defeat the boss in the first area.
ASTRA: Knights of Veda is quite grindy compared to another popular Gacha game, Honkai Star Rail. That’s why you need to take your time and be patient. While getting 5-star characters is amazing, leveling up your starter units can go a long way. Focus on the heroes you have and try to understand all the mechanics; eventually, you will reach the end of your journey as the Master of the Book.
