Although a survival game, Once Human features some nifty gacha mechanics via a device called Wish Machine. This machine lets you win some weapon and armor blueprints with the same random excitement you get from gacha wishing in games like Genshin Impact. Likewise, Once Human‘s gacha mechanics require a special currency, Starchrom. You need plenty for wishing, so here’s how to farm Starchrom in Once Human.
[Updated on July 25, 2024 – Added new methods based on the Once Human 1.0 full release]
Truth be told, you don’t really have to worry about earning Starchrom if you just play the game continuously and follow quests. Most of the quest rewards involve Starchrom. But it’s understandable if you don’t want to exhaust those quests. Here are other, more specific methods to earn Starchrom.
Complete Journey Milestones
Press “J” on the keyboard to bring up the Journey screen. You’ll be able to see what you need to complete these Journey stages.
Finishing a whole Journey has a typical reward of around 80-160 Starchrom.
Season Goals & Season Shop
The Season Goal and Season Shop are new additions to the Once Human 1.0 full release and allow you to get Starchrom in bulk. All you have to do is complete the Season Goal tasks and claim the Starchrom. Keep in mind that Season Goals and Phases are different for PvE and PvP servers.
Additionally, come Phase 06 of the current Season, you’ll be able to buy Starchrom Crates using Energy Link. So save those Energy Links for the late Season.
Battle Pass & Events
You can also progress the Battle Pass and be rewarded with the occasional 1,000-Starchrom milestone on the track. Even the free Battle Pass gives out Starchrom.
Additionally, be on the lookout for events on the Regular, Global, and ‘Events’ events pages as some of them have tasks that reward Starchrom. These are all accessible through the right side of the main menu.
Buy Them from Severin
Whenever you see Severin in an NPC camp, make sure to check his inventory. He can sell up to two Starchrom Crates to you, each containing around 500 Starchrom. Just make sure you have enough currency for it.
Purifying Cortexes
You’ll have to fight for Starchrom in this one. All you need to do is build the Stardust Resonator Filter from the build menu (under ‘Functional’) and insert your Cortex in it.
Note that this will attract Deviant enemies, and you’ll have to defend your territory during the purification process. This is where base defenses come in handy.
As for where you can obtain these Cortexes, the game typically gives them out as quest rewards or Silo and boss rewards. That’s all the more reason to explore and team up with other players.
