Jill Duggar is mourning another difficult loss. The 19 Kids and Counting alum and husband, Derick Dillard, have sadly suffered a second pregnancy loss. The first time the couple experienced the heartbreak was in 2021, with son River Bliss. Now, we’re learning the family was quietly expecting a little girl before their latest anguish. The couple shared the news on Instagram on Saturday, along with a picture of them holding their baby girl.
Jill Hadn’t Previously Disclosed Her Pregnancy
The news that Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard were expecting another baby wasn’t public before the pair announced their loss. The couple are already parents to three sons — Israel, 9, Samuel, 6, and Freddy, 21 months. Duggar also suffered a miscarriage in 2021 with a baby boy, son River Bliss.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the stillbirth of our beautiful baby girl, Isla Marie Dillard. Jill was 4 months pregnant (due in August) when we found out that our baby died in utero. From the moment we found out we were pregnant, we couldn’t wait to meet our baby. Isla was much loved from the start, and her 3 big brothers were so excited to introduce her to their world.

We appreciate your prayers as we continue to grieve and heal from the loss of our little Isla Marie. 😭🩷
The baby girl was the couple’s first daughter. Cousin Amy King commented on her post, extending her prayers and condolences for her cousin.
Isla Marie such a beautiful name and meaning. Praying continuously.. God has a plan through all the heartbreak. You’ve been on my mind and in our prayers and will continue to be. 💕 We love y’all so much.

One Year After Her First Pregnancy Loss, the Mom Admitted to Feeling Conflicted
Jill’s previous pregnancy loss occurred between sons Samuel and Freddy. Having welcomed Freddy shortly before the one-year mark of River’s loss, she admitted to feeling “conflicted with feelings of loss and joy.”
I miss the moments we never had with River, yet I feel so so thankful for where we are this year holding our sweet little newborn & I do not take for granted what a blessing this journey of motherhood is. My heart is also heavy for others who wish so badly to be mamas or have experienced loss and are still praying for their miracle.

After welcoming Freddy in 2022, Jill faced a scary health ordeal when some serious pain led to gallbladder surgery for the 6-week postpartum mom. Thankfully, surgery was successful, and her recovery was relatively smooth.
It’s been a difficult road as Jill and Derick figure out growing their family. The loss of their little girl is absolutely a tough new development for the family. However, as many commenters noted, they have faith to lean on as they figure out what the right move forward for them is.
