Kendrick Lamar heated up the simmering beef between him and rapper Drake, firing with scathing lyrics on his song, Euphoria just weeks after Drake targeted him in a diss track. The bad blood between the two rappers has been long in the making. However, things seem to have exploded in the first quarter of 2024, with Drake going on a lyrical rampage, challenging anyone who dares to fire back.
Kendrick Lamar Reescalates Drake Beef Following Multiple Diss Tracks
Earlier this month, Drake took a stab at artists like Kendrick, J Cole and Rick Ross, among other artists who’ve crossed him lyrically, without hesitating to namedrop. However, Kendrick took most of the hit, with the IDGAF rapper attacking his size, outfit choices and business relationships. To conclude the track, Drake dared Kendrick to hit back with the “nuclear” diss he’s been teasing for ages or shut his mouth. He challenged the Bad Blood rapper once again in another diss track, Taylor Made, released barely days later.
Following his weeks-long silence in the face of Drake’s continuous beef, Kendrick Lamar finally obliged him With Euphoria. The six-minute diss track tramples upon the Toronto artist’s tough exteriors and supposed connections to the underworld. He gradually eased into the inciteful lyrics at the end of his first verse, branding Drake a “manipulator and habitual liar.”
Having debunked Drake’s claims about him, Kendrick Lamar came for the Taylor Made. Referencing the A.I imitation of Tupac’s voice that forced the late star’s estate to threaten legal actions, Kendrick ripped the freestyle apart as capable of making “pac turn in his grave.” The track also saw the Humble rapper question Drake’s aptitude as a father, and flat out declared that her doesn’t like “the Papi.”
It’s Been a Long Time Coming
Kendrick also took swipes at Drake’s ghotwriters who were supposedly “making calls” to get dirt on him. Kendrick’s wife Whitney Alford took a stray shot in Drake’s Push Ups, with the lines “I’ll be with some bodyguards like Whitney.” Regardless of Drake’s intent, the Californian rapper made sure his target knew his wife was off limit, even threatening violence for the misguided reference.
Going further, the 36-year-old called out Drake for failing to respond to Pusha T despite his feighed toughness. After directing a stray at J Cole and branding Drake a “scam artist” who “isn’t even black enough,” Kendrick eventually hung his gloves. While Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss on Euphoria left no crumbs, it most definitely isn’t the end of their beef.
