Zendaya always brings her best looks to the Met Gala, and this year should be no different. However, as her stylist, Law Roach, revealed in an interview with The New York Times, the actress’ look isn’t yet ready for the Monday event. “I haven’t seen Zendaya’s dress! We’ve been on two press tours — ‘Dune 2’ and ‘Challengers’ — and doing two Vogue covers. The dress isn’t even made. They won’t fit until Saturday,” Roach said.
While the Challengers star is certain to arrive at the fundraiser in a gorgeous look, this particular Met Monday is of utmost importance for her as she’s one of the Gala’s co-chairs. Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour taps co-chairs each year to help promote and plan the event. Joining Zendaya this year are Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth. Past co-chairs have included Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Serena Williams, and Lady Gaga.
Zendaya’s Past Met Gala Looks
The Euphoria actress is known for her stylistic choices, with her Met Gala looks among the most notable. For the 2017 event, the actress dressed in Dolce & Gabbana to meet the “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art of the In-between” theme. The following year she wore an Atelier Versace gown for “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.”
The star’s most iconic Met Gala look, however, was at the 2019 event, which happens to be the last time she attended. Zendaya wore a Tommy Hilfiger Cinderella gown for “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” and she brought Law Roach as her fairy godfather.
While on the carpet, the actress’ dress illuminated from within at the wave of Roach’s wand, creating an unforgettable moment on a night where nearly everyone in attendance wore something memorable. This year’s Met Gala theme is “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and everyone will be anxious to see what Zendaya wears.
