Throughout The Final Shape, there are loads of new things coming to Destiny 2 that give us all types of new possibilities, like Exotic Class Items. Exotic Class Items are a completely new mechanic, but they’ll be doing quite a bit to enhance your gameplay if you can get your hands on them. In addition to all the new changes that will be coming with the Prismatic subclass, there will be a lot to learn and adjust to, but this is one thing you definitely want to pay attention to. Let’s take a look at what Exotic Class Items are in Destiny 2, and how they work.
What Are Exotic Class Items in Destiny 2 and What Do They Do?
Exotic Class Items allow you to use two random Exotic perks from a curated selection of random Exotic armor perks. These perks can come from your class, or even other classes that you aren’t using, which opens up possibilities that might not have been available to you in the past with your current Guardian.
Exotic Armor Perks, like the Prismatic subclass, divides the classes between Light and Darkness and provides a selection of Exotic armor perks that contain both sides. These not only contain many favorites from the past but also Exotic perks that really resonate with the structure of the Prismatic subclass abilities and Aspects.
Each new Class Item will have two perks that tend to complement each other with their various traits and effects. For example, a Warlock bond with the Spirit of Apotheosis and the Spirit of the Star-Eater work together well. Apotheosis will provide temporarily increased melee and grenade regen after your Super ends, but Star-Eater will increase the frequency of that by overcharging your Super and giving it extra damage whenever you pick up an Orb of Power with full Super energy.
The Prismatic subclass encourages Exotic Class Items to fit in with its various abilities and aspects. That said, Bungie adjusted the perks of some Class Items to work better with a wider range of abilities. Overall, Exotic Class Items are going to be a pretty big game-changer when paired with Prismatic.
Destiny 2 is now available on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles.
