The Casting of Frank Stone‘s gameplay trailer is here at last, but it raises more questions than it answers. Who better to explore Dead by Daylight‘s twisted lore than Supermassive Games? The devs behind The Quarry and other brilliant interactive stories are trying their hand at DbD‘s universe. Instead of The Entity’s Realm, The Casting takes place in Cedar Hills, a small town once stalked by a sadistic serial killer. This single-player narrative follows four friends who end up entangled by Frank’s cruel legacy while trying to shoot a movie. Here’s what The Casting of Frank Stone‘s gameplay trailer has revealed.
Frank Stone, The Huntress, and The Entity
As the four friends explore Cedar Hills, it becomes obvious all is not well in Oregon. The cops are investigating some mysterious carcasses, but our young heroes are more interested in shooting their movie. The condemned steel mill they’re exploring gives MacMillan Estate vibes. Although we can assume the Trapper isn’t lurking within, the place doesn’t look any safer. At one point, a black claw (similar to those that kill survivors on the hook) even spears a woman through the chest. This may not be the Trial Grounds, but it sure isn’t safe.
The trailer also includes a brief shot of a character holding The Huntress’s mask, but how Anna’s story connects isn’t clear. So far, it appears the game will include a similar blend of action to The Quarry, mixing dialogue sequences and exploration with quick time events and difficult choices. The Casting of Frank Stone is reportedly a 5-7 hour experience, so at least you won’t have to grind a million Bloodpoints to Prestige this time.
The Casting of Frank Stone will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
