While Zagreus can get stronger via the Mirror of Night, Melinoe needs to unlock Arcana Cards to gain more power. Initially, you can only hold 10 cards, but you can raise this limit as you repeatedly explore the underworld realm. In order to increase your Grasp in Hades 2, you must gather a valuable material called Psyche. This item differs from Ashes, which you need to get more Arcana Cards.
Hades 2 Increasing Grasp Guide
You can increase your Grasp by meditating at the Altar at the Crossroads. You’ll need to click Melinoe’s picture to access the Grasp of the Arcana and see how much Psyche you need to upgrade.
As you can see in the image above, I’ve upgraded several times. At this point, I have unlocked 15 Arcana Cards, and my limit is 20. If you reach the maximum number, you won’t be able to unlock more cards even if you have the required materials.

You can use several methods to gain Psyche in Hades 2, but the easiest is picking a Pysche chamber during a run. I recommend equipping Poseidon’s Keepsake so you have a higher chance of obtaining the Ocean’s Bounty Boon. This blessing can double all Minor Finds that you acquire during that run.
Besides grabbing a Pysche after clearing a room, you can also get this material from other sources:
- Use Tablet of Peace
- Purchase from the Wretched Broker
- Order from Charon’s Chest
The Tablet of Peace is a gathering tool that you can unlock at the Crossroads for five Silver and Psyche. With this item, you can commune with various lost spirits and obtain 30 Pysche in Hades 2.
Lastly, you can purchase Psyche from the Wretched Broker or Charon’s Chest. You can invite the Broker to come to the Crossroads by performing the Mercantile Fortune incantation. The shade will appear near the river, and you can buy five Pysche for 30 Bones at the Broker.
On the other hand, Charon’s Chest will pop up after the boatman visits the Crossroad. During your next run, Charon may give you one Loyalty Card, and you’ll find Charon’s Chest at the dock when you return. Unlike the Broker, the boatman only accepts Loyalty Cards, but you can buy 80 Psyche for two cards.
