Poor Dwight and Claudette can’t get a moment’s peace in The Entity’s Realm. After the pain and horror of Dead by Daylight, they’re being tested once more, this time in What The Fog? This co-op action roguelike blends DbD‘s creepy world with cartoony visuals and frantic action. No more hiding in bushes or Self-Caring in some forsaken corner of Eyrie of Crows. If these survivors want to keep on surviving, they’re going to need magic, teamwork, and help from a certain bunny-eared heroine. Here’s what you need to know about Behaviour‘s Dead by Daylight tie-in What The Fog?
What The Fog? vs. The Entity
What The Fog? is a third-person action roguelike with a visual style reminiscent of Funko Pops. To escape alive, you must defeat waves of creepy, cyclopean enemies, collect power-ups, and repair generators. Unlike in Dead by Daylight, however, you won’t be sitting at a generator for 90 seconds hitting Skill Checks. Instead, you’ll scavenge the map (or kill enemies) for Bloodpoints which can then be used to instantly repair a generator, awarding you with a random upgrade. Instead of perk builds, double jumps, speed boosts, and upgraded spells are all available and essential for victory.
There’s a solo mode, but What The Fog? feels best in co-op. If you’re downed by The Entity’s henchmonsters, gameplay shifts to a tactical view, allowing you to cast spells to help your partner. It’s a system that makes for lighthearted, messy action and clutch plays. Between stages, you can choose more powerful upgrades to transform your character’s unique abilities. Dweet with an enemy-stunning plasma orb? Yes, please. Meeting milestones also unlocks new enemies and other content, giving the game more depth than its bobble-headed aesthetic would suggest.
A Roguelike Romp
Whether you want a break from that P100 grind or you’re just eager for a sillier look at The Entity’s Realm, What The Fog? offers a fun diversion. It’s simplistic by design, stripping away Dead by Daylight‘s dense lore and anything else that might distract from the chaos. Watching everyone’s favorite bespectacled everyman rip monsters apart with magic won’t replace DbD. Still, if you’re into Hooked on You and the other tie-ins, you owe it to yourself to at least give What The Fog? a peek. And no, you can’t date Huntress in this one. Stop asking.
What The Fog? is available for PC and Mobile.
