With or without Hailey Bieber’s pregnancy bombshell, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco had baby plans of their own. The 31-year-old Rare Beauty founder snagged this month’s coveted spot on TIME 100, featuring on the magazine’s cover. Interviewing for the publication, Selena discussed her mental health struggles, finding her purpose, growing a multi-billion dollar beauty company and finding love where she least expected.
The conversations quickly stirred towards the singer’s personal life and relationships. She went candid about surviving life as a single woman for up to five years and getting comfortable with being alone. Selena Gomez became so at ease finding happiness within herself that she began planning for her future family and a baby with or without a partner.
The Single Soon crooner admitted that she initially tortured herself in the first two years of being alone. Eventually, she accepted the situation. However, to cope with her maternal demands, Selena Gomez set a timeframe for herself at some point, marking when it was okay to have a baby. She divulged,
“I came up with my plan, which was I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone.”
Before hitting the mid-thirties, though, Selena Gomez met someone, producer and songwriter Benny Blanco. The crooner disclosed that with Benny, love found her when she least expected. Admittedly, she initially considered the producer as just a friend, even enlisting him to set her up with someone. Thankfully, she realized at the nick of time that she liked him and would rather pursue a relationship with him than the friend he eventually introduced her to.
Selena Discusses Moving On from a Breakup
Selena Gomez’s baby comments came in response to whether or not having a partner is relevant to how one feels about themselves. In her mental health advocacy, Selena never hesitates to stress the importance of “feeling your feelings.” Hence, when asked how she “manages the pain of a breakup,” the star explained there were no shortcuts, as one needed to go through it.
In her case, she allowed herself to have those days until time eventually eased the pain. Selena is certainly a sea of knowledge on such matters, given her high-profile relationship with Justin Bieber and their very crushing breakup.
While the two have moved on, fans of Selena Gomez are reluctant to let it slide, leading to constant comparisons with Justin’s wife Hailey Bieber. With the couple recently dropping their pregnancy bombshell on the world after 6 years of marriage, any move from Selena Gomez to have a baby now would clearly be perceived as a reenactment of her “feud” with Hailey. But who cares when Benny admittedly anticipates a family and babies with his singing diva?
