DC’s new comics this week bring Batman “face TWO face” with a much darker Harvey Dent. Detective Comics #1086 from Ram V. and Stefano Raffaele lets Harvey Dent’s more sinister other half take the reins of their shared body. However, the Dark Knight knows all too well what it is like not to be in control of your own body. Specifically, he knows what it is like to have Azmer latch onto him. Therefore, Bats works to give Harvey control again. He then offers his condolences and seems to genuinely bond with his nemesis. However, when he notes how difficult it is to separate oneself from the darkness, a sinister smile creeps onto Batman’s face.
Once again, Bruce Wayne is pulling double duty in new comics this week. Nicole Maines, Mark Waid, and Skylar Patridge bring the debut of Absolute Power: Ground Zero #1 to readers. This prelude brings the storylines of Batman, Superman: House of Brainiac, and Suicide Squad: Dream Team together. The oversized issue brings Waller’s plan for total dominance one step closer to fruition. The heroes of DC must team together to stop her from capturing all the metahuman powers on Earth.
Elsewhere in the DC Universe, Joshua Williamson and Rafa Sandoval unlock the secrets of Brainiac in Action Comics #1066. Now that Brainiac has finished his masterpiece, all bets are off. Superman and his family are plunged into cosmic horrors unlike anything seen before. This issue teaches readers the true history of Brainiac. Meanwhile, Lobo must choose whose side he is on before all hell breaks loose. This leads into the creative duo’s Superman #15 this week. Superman and Lex know how to stop Brainiac and his Queen. However, it involves a great sacrifice. Can they do the unthinkable to save the world?
