Netflix has added another amazing feature to its arsenal, as it officially added a skip button feature to its interface that will allow users to skip the opening sequence of a show. Rumors surrounding the feature circulated on social media platforms – from twitter to Reddit – for the past month, hidden in title sequences for shows like House of Card, The Office, and Ironfist.

Originally, Netflix quelled the rumors of the buttons full-time addition, telling The Verge it was merely a test exercise and that nothing was confirmed.

“We perform hundreds of tests every year to help make the Netflix member experience better.”

Users spotted the feature amongst the images after hovering over a button titled skip intro. While Netflix has featured the ability to enable binge watching mode for quite some time, skipping over title sequences automatically after sitting through multiple episodes in a row, it also skipped shows with cold openings.

An example of that is the season 2 opener for Sherlock features a crucial cold open, but if you binge watch it, it takes the viewer to directly after the title sequence, resulting in confusion. Thankfully the new feature will compensate for the shows that have cold openings as well, containing different prompts for each.

Users have spotted the skip button on select online streaming shows, randomly, for well over a month since its implementation

The skip intro button officially went live earlier today but is only available to use when streaming a show in a web browser. The new feature is one of many new upgrades the brand has implemented in the past couple of months, as they followed Youtube Red’s ability to download and play specific shows and movies offline.
