Is Sarah Ferguson following in the footsteps of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle? The Duchess of York, like the exiled Sussexes, is not a working member of the Royal family. Her divorce from Prince Andrew in April 1996 conferred on her that status. However, unlike Harry & Meghan, Fergie has closely remained associated with the Royal Family, attending some major family events and living on Royal grounds. Now, it seems she is ready for a major change.
During a recent appearance on Good Morning Britain, the duchess let go of her inhibitions and revealed one of her deepest desires. “I want to be on Bridgerton,” she blatantly confessed on the show. Ferguson then opened up about her desired role in the beloved Netflix Regency-era-inspired series.
“I think Lady Penelope should have a friend who’s got red hair like me.”

Ferguson’s wish received great support from co-host Sussana Reid, who suggested getting in touch with creator Shonda Rhimes, to which the royal redhead replied, “I’m putting it out there!” A Bridgerton appearance won’t be Ferguson’s first time on a prominent television show. In 1998, she made a surprise guest appearance on the episode of Friends about Ross Geller’s wedding to his British fiancée in London.
Sarah Ferguson Isn’t Against Prince Harry & Meghan’s Choice
Nevertheless, Ferguson’s vocal support for the Sussexes‘ lifestyle makes it not surprising that she expressed her desire to take on Hollywood. While most of the royal family are still against the young couple’s exit, the Duchess of York has no problem with it. She previously said in an interview, “I don’t believe that any single person has the right to judge another person. I have been judged all my life, and I have no judgment on the Sussexes.”
As for her thoughts on what the Late Princess Diana would say about her son’s controversial choice, Ferguson answered, “I think that Diana would be incredibly proud of her grandchildren. And not just the Sussex grandchildren but Will’s children.”
