Sarah Ferguson has broken her silence about not being invited to King Charles’s upcoming coronation. The Duchess of York revealed this during her recent appearance with Kate Garraway and Adil Ray on Good Morning Britain. Ferguson expressed how she felt about not being invited to the coronation ceremony, despite being a royal family member. When asked if she had plans to attend the event, the TV personality responded that she had no plans to attend.
Why Sarah Ferguson Won’t Attend King Charles’ Coronation
The British author said she would not attend King Charles III’s coronation because it was a state occasion, and as a divorcee, she could not have it both ways. Per Mirror, the ex-wife of Prince Andrew added that she enjoyed being divorced from her ex-husband.
One of the hosts, Kate Garraway, was surprised and asked if she did not feel sorry and bothered. Garraway’s question was channeled at how Ferguson literally grew up with the royal family and was very close to the celebrant. The public figure replied that the great thing about the moment would be the unity of the family. She added that they had been doing a great job at uniting the family.
Nonetheless, the new Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, and Sophie would be in attendance. Princess Anne, the Duke, Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of York, and Princess Alexandra would also be in attendance. Other family members attending King Charles’ coronation include Sarah Ferguson’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
Zara and Mike Tindall would attend but not appear on the Buckingham Palace Balcony after the ceremony. Princess Harry would attend the coronation, but his wife, Meghan Markle, would stay back in California to tend to their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Ferguson Has Always Been Supportive
Sarah Ferguson was not invited to King Charles’s coronation ceremony and would not attend the event. However, she has been very supportive of the royal family, most especially the new king. A source told The Independent that she has always shown support for the monarch and his Queen, Camilla.
The celebration is about the King’s coronation, and she does not want to be the subject topic. “The whole day is about the new King and the success of his reign, but she has always championed the royal family, and the queen undoubtedly would have wanted her presence in the ceremony.” The source added.
