Bon Jovi‘s former guitarist, Richie Sambora, has clarified that he wants to return to the band. However, Jon Bon Jovi will not easily cave into Richie’s desires. It’s been nearly a dozen years since Sambora left Jon and the members hanging before he officially quit the band. They haven’t forgotten, and neither have the fans. However, Richie has made his case to return public, but a lot has changed, and things are not the same.
Many Bon Jovi fans would love to see Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora reunite on stage. However, many others believe that the ship has sailed. Despite the dilemma, Jon Bon Jovi is unsure that Richie Sambora’s return is good for the band, at least for now.
The New York Post reports that Richie is all hyped about a Bon Jovi return. He wants to do it for the fans. Sambora believes that he and Jon should get together since it is Bon Jovi’s 40th anniversary. He wants to give their dedicated followers the show they have been waiting for more than ten years. But Richie has some stipulations.
Since Richie’s departure in 2013, Jon Bon Jovi has been open and honest about their position. He claims that there is no animosity between the two. But as far as giving Sambora the green light on his return, “You never say never,” the rocker said. Things are still up in the air.
In May, Richie Sambora said he would rejoin the group after lead singer Bon Jovi recovered completely from vocal surgery and regained his full voice. However, Jon is on the fence about it, and no decisions have been made.
“I’ve made four albums since his departure,” Bon Jovi added. “The band goes on, you know? We’ll see when we get to that point of touring.”
The band’s 16th album, Forever, has just been released, and fans hope to hear upcoming tour news very soon.
Hulu’s Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story was a huge success and left fans wanting more. During the documentary, Jon was honest and open, sharing all the details and the band’s story over the past four decades.
During the special, Richie Sambora discusses his departure and apologizes to the band and fans.
“I’d like to apologize fully right now to the fans, especially, and also to the guys,” he said in the document. My feet and my spirit were just not letting me walk out the door.”
When speaking about his desire to return, Richie stated, “The fans will just love it.” Sambora adds that he and Bon Jovi “talked about” him rejoining the band, so long as Bon Jovi gets his voice back.
While Jon Bon Jovi continues to rehab his voice, he keeps his fans in the loop. The rock legend admits he isn’t ready to go on tour yet to support the band’s new album. But he is working on it and hopes to get there soon. For now, a new tour and Richie Sambora’s return to the Bon Jovi stage remain in the air. But if Jon and his fans have their way, Bon Jovi will be back on the road soon, with or without Richie.
