It goes without saying that body language is an integral part of any royal’s life. While celebs do have a special way they pose and walk during events, they’ll strut as they please when out and about their daily lives. As for Prince William, Prince Harry, and anyone else under King Charles’ fold, every family member has been tirelessly trained since childhood to ensure their every movement and gesture follows the standards of royalty. Knowing this, Prince William has used body language to show the world that “he is determined to forge something different for his own children.”
Millions across the globe celebrated Father’s Day 2024 by posting loving photos of their fathers on social media, and despite being a prince, William did the same. On Instagram, the Prince of Wales posted an older picture of himself as a child playing ball with a much younger King Charles. On the other hand, Kate Middleton took a photo of William and their children, which was quite different from what most would imagine a “proper Father’s Day photo” would look like.
Standing on the beach with his arms around his kids to indicate strong, familial support, Prince William had the adoring caption, “We love you, Papa. Happy Father’s Day ๐ G, C & L.” Typically, such a picture would have the family facing the camera, smiles and all visible. However, body language expert Judi James told the Mirror that this decision to pose with backs turned was very intentional and signified a message to King Charles and the world.
“The contrast between William’s choice of pose to illustrate his own view of fatherhood and the pose he chose to celebrate his own father’s role in his life could hardly be stronger, suggesting that although he appreciates the kind of upbringing he had, he is determined to forge something different for his own children.”

“William continually shows how he uses lessons from his past to forge the kind of family unit he sees as more modern and more ideal. His understanding of duty and loyalty seems strong but he is clearly also determined to create a more casual and playful life for his own children than he or his father were allowed to enjoy.”

The pressure of growing up as a royal must have been harsh on William, as he stated there was “a lot of traveling and a lot of fights.” Prince Harry took all the bitterness inside and wrote Spare while becoming the infamous rebel he is today with his wife, Meghan Markle.
Conversely, Prince William is doing his best to care for his cancer-stricken wife Kate Middleton’s recovery while also carrying out the duties that will prepare him to one day be king. Just through a simple Father’s Day photo, Prince William shows his determination to ensure his children will never suffer the pains and stresses he experienced growing up as a royal.
