Popular DC writer Joshua Williamson announced his departure from two DC series he is currently writing on. The writer will no longer lend his talents toย Batman and Robinย andย Green Arrowย beginning later this year. As a DC exclusive writer, Williamson has had his hands full with some big projects. He helped shift DCโs focus fromย Dark Knights: Death Metalย intoย Infinite Frontierย and eventuallyย Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths. Not to mention his work on big series, likeย The Flash, that has helped mold the DC Universe into what it is now. Naturally, all of this work means some things will have to go to make room for others.ย

Joshua Williamson took to his Substack newsletter to announce his upcoming departures. In the newsletter, the writer revealed thatย Batman and Robin #13ย is going to be his last on the project. Thankfully, the series will continue with a new creative team. Meanwhile, Williamson is leavingย Green Arrowย after the 17thย issue and theย Green Arrow Annualย set for an October release. The writer also revealed that the decision to leave the two series was his choice and he opened a bit about that choice.ย
The biggest factor in the decision, according to Williamson, is burn out. With so much on the writerโs plate right now, he feels that he is โburning the candle at both endsโ. This led to the decision to take some things off the schedule and allow him to reduce his workload and recharge. Plus, the writer wanted to adjust priorities and spend more time with his family.
Joshua Williamson And The Future
Also in his newsletter, Joshua Williamson mentioned a few of the projects he has on the horizon. Specifically, the writer was recently offered some comic projects he could not turn down. So, he needed the free time to really digest the projects and make room in his headspace to grow them. Whileย Batman and Robinย andย Green Arrowย are amazing comics, Williamson is ready to surprise people with what he can do.ย
