Taylor Swift may be head over heels with Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce. However, before her relationship with the athlete, she dated actor Joe Alwyn for nearly seven years. Many fans believed that the long-term relationship may turn into something more. However, the couple announced their split in early 2023. A few months later, the singer and the Super Bowl champ became the hottest celebrity couple. Now, Alwyn is said to have a bit of advice for his ex’s new beau.
Taylor Swift fans know that she and Joe Alwyn kept their relationship very private. The couple weren’t often seen in public together. They also rarely posed for photos with one another. However, her romance with Travis Kelce has been quite the opposite. Even now, Alwyn doesn’t want to speak out about his former relationship with the singer. However, sources tell Life and Style Magazine that he does have some advice for Kelce.
The British actor allegedly would warn Kelce about Swift’s songwriting habits. Alwyn reportedly believes that any man who doesn’t treat the singer write falls victim to her pen, and her fans take off running from there.
“The only advice Joe would probably ever give Travis is to keep treating Taylor right so that he doesn’t become fodder for some song, because her fans will never let him live it down!” an insider reveals.
Following their split, Taylor Swift released her 13th album titled The Tortured Poets Department. Although many of the songs are about her former fling Matty Healy, several also allude to her relationship with Joe Alwyn. There are even a couple of songs about Travis Kelce on the album. Songs such as So Long London, loml, and The Black Dog are thought to be about Swift and Alwyn’s relationship and split.
However, despite all of the drama, Alwyn and Swift reportedly have no bad blood with one another. If anything, the actor understood the singer’s process and knew exactly what would happen if they were to break up.
“Joe knew what he was getting into when he was dating Taylor. Her history regarding writing songs about past relationships wasn’t a problem for him,” the insider continues.
When previously asked about Swift’s album, Alwyn admitted he didn’t have much to say. However, he did admit that navigating the end of the relationship was “hard.”
“I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years. That is a hard thing to navigate,” the actor stated.
Taylor Swift has written several songs about her exes in the past. This is nothing new, and fans expected tunes about Joe Alwyn on the album. However, if the singer ever splits with Travis Kelce, the football player could be raked through the coals if he hurts her, and Alwyn knows it.
