Kevin Hart is being sued by a close friend in relation to his 2017 sex tape extortion scandal. The comedian found himself in hot waters when a sexual encounter with a woman, Montia Sabbag, in Las Vegas was secretly recorded by his close friend and resulted in an extortion saga. Now, years later Hart’s friend is disputing his role in the entire thing.
In a new filing, J.T. Jackson launched a multimillion-dollar suit against the comic. He alleged that Hart misrepresented his role in the extortion chronicle and failed to agree to the terms set for a public apology. Jackson claimed they agreed in 2021 that the Die Hart actor would issue an apology to help his friend’s reputation. They reportedly wrote the statement together but the comedian strayed away from the script. Part of the message was to exonerate Jackson, saying he had nothing to do with the sex tape, but Hart failed to do that.
As a result, Jackson claims his reputation tanked, and he isn’t able to get a job in the industry. He wants $12 million from his famous friend, citing breach of contract, infliction of emotional distress, and professional setback. An excerpt of the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, reads:
“It’s been three years since Kevin promised to help clear my name, to no avail. So here we are. Through this lawsuit, I aim to restore my reputation, seek accountability, and ensure that such injustices do not happen to others.”
Kevin Hart Apologized For Cheating On His Wife
The lawsuit brings back memories of Hart’s public apology to his wife after a failed extortion attempt over the alleged sex tape. In an Instagram video, the Central Intelligence star addressed his wife Eniko Parrish while giving details of the blackmail he endured. He alleged that someone was trying to make “financial gain” from his past mistakes.
“Sending so many apologies to my wife & kids. I gotta do better and I will. I’m not perfect and have never claimed to be …I love you all.”
Hart and Eniko have since moved past the drama, welcoming one more child in 2020, three years after. The lovebirds are parents to four children, two of which are from the comic’s first marriage.
