The Fallout series has always had the PC to call home. Exploring the Capital Wasteland, New Vegas, and the Commonwealth is an incredibly fun experience, and tabletop game developer Modiphius hopes to replicate some of the intense combat of the series in their upcoming miniatures game, entitled Fallout: Wasteland Warfare.

Miniatures games occupy a space somewhat between pen and paper RPGs (like Dungeons & Dragons or Pathfinder) and more traditional board games. Players build an army of highly detailed figures, with each figure representing a unique character with different powers and abilities. They then deploy these figures onto a scale battlefield, measuring space between units and rolling dice or drawing cards to see if actions and attacks succeed.

Fallout: Wasteland Warfare features 32mm figures, and Modiphius promises both “iconic characters” and “iconic scenery and settlement buildings, from the Red Rocket to Sanctuary Hills, Nuka-Cola vending machines, and wrecked vehicles.” The game will also include a cooperative campaign with an AI deck to control enemies, as well as support for competitive skirmishes for a tournament scene that may develop around the game.

Some of the figures in the upcoming game.

Chris Birch, the publisher for Modiphius, had this to say about the excitement of recreating the classic video games for the tabletop: “Like many, I’ve been experiencing the wasteland for years through the different Fallout video games and always wanted to recreate the skirmishes and bigger battles on the tabletop.” It won’t be long before players will be able to take his vision and reenact their favorite battles from Fallout lore.

Fallout: Wasteland Warfare is scheduled to release in November of 2017, and preorders will be available this summer on the game’s homepage. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
