The deadliest archaeologist since Indiana Jones has entered the Fog. When Lara Croft isn’t plundering ancient burial sites, platforming, or unloading her handguns into some villain’s chest, you can find her slinking through Ormond and Backwater Swamp. Like every survivor in Dead by Daylight, Lara brings three unique perks to the Trials. Whether you’re trying to earn the Adept achievement or find a way to fit her perks into your meta build, it pays to understand Croft’s craft. Fail that and you might find yourself in Bubba’s basement. Here’s how to play Lara Croft in Dead by Daylight.
Lara Croft’s Perks in DbD
Vecna chose an unfortunate time to join Dead by Daylight, as there’s a Tomb Raider on his heels. While other characters focus on one activity, such as healing others or escaping chase, Lara has a decent spread of abilities. She brings three perks to the game, and understanding them is the first step toward playing her well. Here’s what’s in her kit:
- Finesse – When healthy, you perform fast vaults faster than normal, with a cooldown after each use
- Hardened – After you open a Chest and cleanse or bless a Totem, Hardened Activates. While Hardened is active, any time you should scream, you instead reveal the killer’s Aura
- Specialist – You gain 1 Token (to a max of 3) when you open or rummage through a Chest. Hitting a Great Skill Check reduces the max required Generator progress
You only gain the benefit of Finesse when healthy, so use Sprint Burst or another Exhaustion perk to delay the initial hit as long as possible. Since this perk’s ability is vault-based and has a cooldown, you can treat it like Lithe. Always know where the nearest window and dropped pallet are. Hardened can be great against the Doctor or killers with Face the Darkness and other scream-inducing perks. Compared to Distortion, it’s not an amazing stealth perk, but it’s a good way to increase your sneakiness without resorting to Iron Will. Opening chests to activate Specialist wastes as much time as it earns, so don’t count on it replacing Prove Thyself in your gen-rush build.
How to Adept Lara Croft
To earn the Adept achievement as Lara Croft you must escape a Trial through the exit gate while only using Lara’s unique perks (leaving the fourth slot empty). Thankfully, Hardened and Specialist share a trigger (Chests), giving her some natural synergy. Try to activate these perks early to maximize their benefit, but don’t throw the Trial by trading an unnecessary hook for them. Specialist and Finesse probably won’t turn the Trial in your favor on their own, especially if you’re injured, but Hardened might. Work together, break three-gens, and you might avoid seeing a second Angel of Darkness.
