A few celebrities have been rumored to appear in Deadpool and Wolverine. Blake Lively and Taylor Swift have been at the top of the list due to their connection to Ryan Reynolds. While the actor has neither confirmed nor denied whether his wife and her famous bestie would make cameos, he did just shut down another theory involving Stray Kids. Although fans of the K-pop group hoped they would guest star in the latest Deadpool sequel, Reynolds said they unfortunately couldn’t be in the film.
During a recent press conference for Deadpool and Wolverine, Reynolds revealed he wanted Stray Kids to make a cameo just as much as the group’s fans. In fact, their appearance was so close to happening. However, everything was canceled due to the Hollywood Strikes.
“The initial plan was to have them appear in the film, but it was just the strike happening in the middle and some other issues, and just making it logistically impossible,” Reynolds explained, according to ETimes.
How Did Ryan Reynolds and Stray Kids Become Friends?
Since Ryan Reynolds and Stray Kids have been friends for years, fans thought he would ask the group to make a cameo in Deadpool and Wolverine, especially since they’re such big fans of the Marvel character. In 2021, they even paid tribute to Deadpool while performing on Kingdom: Legendary War. After it went viral, Reynolds reached out to the group on X, which kickstarted their friendship. Since then, they’ve continued interacting on social media.
While Stray Kids’ cameo unfortunately couldn’t work, the group did appear on the Deadpool and Wolverine soundtrack. They recorded an original song for the album called “Slash.” As if that wasn’t enough, Reynolds and Hugh Jackman also guest starred in the group’s “Chk Chk Boom” music video.
So, it seems in the end, Stray Kids did collaborate with Deadpool and Wolverine after all.
