The Vienna leg of Taylor Swift’s Austria tour is on hold till further notice due to a terrifying terrorist plot. However, according to reports, Taylor Swift hopes to return to Vienna soon. The singer was to perform at the Ernst Happel Stadium in the capital city on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. However, Barracuda Music announced they were canceling the concert on Wednesday night. In a statement on Instagram, they confirmed the show’s cancellation was due to a planned terrorist attack.
“With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety,” the post read.
The statement also assured fans who had purchased tickets for the show of an automatic refund within ten business days. Following Taylor Swift’s Austria tour’s cancellation, reports revealed the authorities arrested two suspects linked to the planned terrorist attack. They apprehended the 19-year-old main suspect in the early hours of Wednesday in Ternitz, South of Vienna. On the other hand, the police arrested the second person later that day in the Austrian capital. Meanwhile, a source has revealed Taylor Swift’s feelings about not performing in Vienna. Speaking to The Mirror, the insider explained that the Cruel Summer crooner felt devastated.
“Taylor has been devastated by this. She is devastated for the fans who have been waiting for years to see her,” they said.
However, the source revealed that the thought of the stadium experiencing a terrorist attack was horrifying. They said Swift loved her fans very much and would never risk their safety. The insider then recalled the 2017 terrorist attack that occurred at Ariana Grande’s concert in Manchester, killing 22 people, including children. They noted that the memory of what happened was still fresh in everyone’s mind. Regardless of the planned attack, the source said Taylor Swift hopes to return to Vienna as soon as possible.
“But she has told her team that she wants to try to return to Vienna as soon as possible in the future. She is very conscious of how disappointed her fans in Austria are.” the source revealed.
Although fans will be disappointed they won’t catch their favorite superstar live on stage, they know it is best to stay safe. Hopefully, Swift will make good on her promise to return to Vienna soon and satisfy her fans’ cravings in the European city.
