Meghan McCain seems to no longer have faith in Donald Trump delivering the 2024 presidential election for the Republican party. The former talk show host, who is a staunch Republican, reached her tipping point following Trump’s controversial speech involving Martin Luther King Jr.
During a press conference held at Mar-A-Lago, the politician compared his oratory skill to that of the late activist. While addressing the media, Trump declared that he pulled in a bigger crowd at his January 6, 2021, rally than MLK’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech.
“I have spoken to the biggest crowds. Nobody has spoken to crowds bigger than me. If you look at Martin Luther King when he did his speech, his great speech, and you look at ours … we had more.”
Trump, however, noted that he wasn’t bothered by MLK’s success over him. “I‘m okay with it. I liked Dr. Martin Luther King,” he said. McCain didn’t seem impressed by the jab at the Nobel Peace Prize winner. Quoting a clip of Trump’s speech, she declared, “Vice President Harris is going to win.” In a previous tweet, the political commentator lamented, “Is Trump trying to lose?”
Meghan McCain Isn’t Completely Pro JD Vance
This isn’t the first time McCain has publicly expressed her disappointment in Trump’s presidential campaign. Last month, the The View alum lost it over vice president pick JD Vance‘s “childless cat lady” comment. Taking to X, the host predicted that Vance’s careless comment would negatively impact voters.
“I have been trying to warn every conservative man I know – these JD comments are activating women across all sides, including my most conservative Trump supporting friends. These comments have caused real pain and are just innately unchristian.”
McCain also bashed the “insensitivity” and “cruelty” of Vance’s words. With Trump’s latest comment pushing her to the edge, the Republican party might just have lost one of its loudest supporters.
