After 5 Years, We Can Finally Use Gas Masks With Ease in Warzone

Best Gas Mask Update Ever

Based on Call of Duty‘s sense of realism, you have to watch your character equip the gas mask for a second before you can ADS and shoot your weapon. However, I think we’ve thrown “realism” out the window in the multiplayer side of things when my character in a bunny suit fights for the Spetsnaz forces for his life. That said, our issues with the gas mask animation and its filter effect in Warzone Season 5 are now solved after years of requests.

When you reach the final circles in Call of Duty: Warzone, you have two choices: a.) Stay out of the gas area and reach the safe zone, and b.) Put on your gas mask and survive till you reach the safe zone. Now, what if you’re in the middle of a fight near the hazard zone?

Back in Warzone 1, your operator would put on a gas mask automatically, forcing the player to let go of intense close-range combat and just eye their demise. This resulted in god knows how many fights I myself had lost due to this uncompetitive gameplay.

In MW3‘s lifecycle, however, that changed by giving you the option to put on your gas mask or just leave it there in your backpack. The change was great, made me happy, but could it be better? Yes!

Instead of manually activating your gas mask and filling in a slot in your backpack, you can now just put it on. And not only that, the edge screen filter effect for wearing the gas mask just disappears. This is a small change, but it certainly is a positive step towards making Warzone a better and fairer competitive game.

Oddly enough, not all players are aware of this change, including many random teammates that I’ve played with since the start of MW3 and Warzone Season 5. So every time you see a gas mask on the ground, just wear it, no need to store it in your backpack. Seriously, you’ll thank me later.

Amir is an absolute Call of Duty nerd, preferring shooter games more than everything. However, he does like to do uppercuts in Mortal Kombat and feel the NOS going through the engines in Need For Speed games.
