Once Human Ancient One’s Trial Guide (How to Complete the Airplane Whale Event)

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a… whale?

This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

If you thought things couldn’t get any weirder in Once Human, that game will prove you wrong with the Ancient One’s Trial. It’s the newest event added to the game and it involves a mutant whale spliced with an airplane, teasing you with its mythical presence overhead as it dominates the airspace. And naturally, you want to partake. Here’s how to join the Ancient Ones Trial in Once Human and how to complete it.

You don’t have to wait for the flying whale or the airplane whale, a.k.a. Ancient One to fly overhead to announce its presence. You can check the map for its icon, which is more ideal since seeing it fly means the event is usually ongoing. To check for the Ancient One, follow these steps:

  1. Open the map (M).
  2. Press X on the keyboard.
  3. Look for the Ancient Ones Trial in the list.
  4. Click it if it’s there, otherwise, wait for it to appear.

Depending on your location, clicking the Ancient Ones Trial icon will lead you to Chalk Peak. But your ordeal isn’t over yet. This location is on top of a mountain, and it’s quite a long climb.

I suggest that you climb it anyway even if the Ancient One’s Trial isn’t active or available yet so that you’ll be ready once it is.

It’s tricky climbing this mountain since there’s a specific start point and incline to allow you to climb. Follow the route on the map image above to get there.

If you have an all-terrain car or jeep, then you can get there faster. A motorcycle is the next best alternative since it lets you wade through the obstacles. Once you get to the peak, wait there or if the Ancient One is already there, use the updraft pads to get to the top of the airplane and start the event.

It’s also advisable to wait for other players so they can join in before you start the event.

Once the preparation timer expires and the plane takes off, you’ll be presented with a balloon shooting mini-game. You have to shoot as many balloons as possible before the Ancient One lands in Red Sands.

Don’t fall off the plane, obviously. The rewards are not too bad as it can give you some fuel and gunpowder. You just need to have a good aim. For maximum points, I recommend the following tips:

  • Bring teammates or other players for an easier high score.
  • Don’t use shotguns (unless if it’s a mag-type shotgun like the Corrosion).
  • If possible use an Unstable Bomber or an automatic gun for the event.

You can repeat the event as many times as you want.
