Once Human has an elaborate fishing activity, and you know what that means. You have to fish. Heck, they even have fishing up as a Season Goal in PvE servers, asking you to catch 22 out of 27 types of fish. So we’re here to help you by telling you where to fish and giving you the best chances of getting specific fishes with our fish locations guide for Once Human.

Once Human Fish Based on Water Type

Note that certain types of water, i.e. freshwater and seawater can dictate the kind of fish you catch in the game. So the best fishing spot really depends on what kind of fish you’re after.

Note that which fish you catch depends on many factors such as luck, bait type, and water type. With that in mind, these are the kinds of fish you can catch in specific water types.

The table is courtesy of u/RamoenSunchaser from Reddit. For the Electric Eel Deviant, it appears they’re not picky with what kind of water type they inhabit. I have caught them in all kinds of waters in Once Human.

With the fishing table in mind, here’s a map below for each region showing nearly all the fishing spots in Once Human. Cross-reference them with the fish table above.

Before going there, I recommend crafting or buying all the different kinds of bait you can obtain to increase the variety of fish you catch. Some baits are specifically made for predator fishes. You can buy different kinds of bait and bait recipes in Once Human from Marjorie, the fisher NPC and she’s usually near the fishing spots below.

You can change your bait if you feel like you’re attracting the same fish over and over again.

Dayton Wetlands Freshwater

It’s just south of Deadsville, in the lower docs region. It’s a small fishing area, mind you.

For the saltwater docks in Dayton Wetlands, it’s further to the east of the region and northeast of Deadsville.

Broken Delta Freshwater & Saltwater

Broken Delta locations are the easiest. The freshwater is just on the southern side of Meyer’s Market, in the Meyer’s Market docks. Meanwhile, the saltwater docks are just further south, down to the estuary.

Iron River Freshwater

Across the river from Greywater Camp. There should be some docks there.

Far to the east on a coast (which is also a perfect spot for a retirement base).

Chalk Peak Freshwater

It’s on the large lake north of Chalk Peak. If you go too near the edge of the docks, Mitsuko might warn you to turn back.

Again, the small lake is for freshwater fish, and the coastal area or beach is for saltwater fish. Fishing Events can also happen in both areas.

Red Sands Freshwater

It might look dry on the map, but it’s actually a decent and peaceful fish location in Once Human for freshwater fish.

Again, far to the eastern coast is the Red Sands saltwater fish location in Once Human. I don’t recommend this one as it’s disappointing. I’ve only caught sardines, mackerel, and barracuda here.

Meanwhile, Fishing Event Locations can appear in most of the fishing spots mentioned above. Just be sure to check your map and its events tab to see if there’s an ongoing Fishing Event in the game. Sometimes, several of them can appear simultaneously.

The good news is you can simply teleport to them from almost anywhere. I would prioritize Fishing Events on the map as you might never know when they will appear and they also hold some of the prettiest fishes for an aquarium.
