Alarmed concertgoers captured the moment in videos, which have since circulated online. Excerpts from the clip showed the moment the actor passed out, and people rushing over to administer CPR. Medical personnel present at the scene performed chest compressions on him. He was then rushed off the stage in a stretcher as confused concertgoers looked on. Despite the prompt actions of those present and the medics who transported him to the hospital in an ambulance, the icon eventually passed.
Fatman Scoop’s family confirmed him dead on Saturday, in a heartbreaking statement shared on social media. In the post, the family described him as a “radiant soul,” and a beacon of light on the stage. They also reminisced on his life as a “father, brother, uncle and friend,” and his immense contribution to the world. His family concluded the writeup with a tribute to his legacy, writing,
“As we mourn the loss of FatMan Scoop, we also celebrate his remarkable life and the countless lives he touched. FatMan Scoop’s legacy is of love ad brightness. It will reside in our hearts and memories forever.”
