Recently, NBA superstar LeBron James was asked to rank the best NFL tight ends of all time. The King did not hesitate to give his honest and most likely unpopular opinion on the matter. Travis Kelce has always been in the argument for the best TE of all time. However, some believe Rob Gronkowski owns that title. Kelce receiving praise from James most likely means a lot to the athlete, as they are both from Cleveland, Ohio.
However, according to Marca, Travis Kelce might not like the Chiefs legend LeBron James booted off his list to fit in Kelce. Tony Gonzalez was left off of Bron’s list in order for Travis to be there. Gonzalez played 12 seasons also with Kansas City with over 900 catches and 10,000 receiving yards. Should he have gotten Kelce’s spot? Some fans believe so, as they said James should “stick to basketball” via social media.
Why Did LeBron James Give the Honors to Travis Kelce?
Kelce has three Super Bowls currently. However, the Kansas City Chiefs are looking to add another this season in hopes of a legendary three-peat. There is already an argument that Kelce is the GOAT at the TE position. Kelce has three rings, nine straight Pro Bowls, and plenty of postseason records.
Travis is a great football player. He has a strong argument for being the best tight end of all time. However, nobody can make everyone happy. James put Kelce in that spot because he believes he is better than Gonzales. Although LBJ also made Tony Gonzales an honorable mention on his list,
Travis Kelce and LeBron James have mutual respect for each other. They are two proven champions who grew up in the Cleveland, Ohio, area. Kelce grew up watching James and his Cleveland Cavaliers dominate the NBA. However, now, Bron gets to watch Kelce tear up the NFL.
Every list is an opinion. However, Travis Kelce seems to deserve the flowers for what he has brought to the game of football. Kelce is a future Hall of Famer, and his contributions will never be forgotten.
